IMPROVING LOCAL ADAPTIVE FILTERING METHOD EMPLOYED IN RADIOMETRIC CORRECTION OF ANALOGUE AIRBORNE CAMPAIGNS

Abstract. An orthophotomosaic is as a single image that can be layered on map. It produced from set of aerial images impaired by radiometric inhomogeneity mostly due to atmospheric phenomena, like hotspot, haze or high altitude clouds shadows well the camera itself, lens vignetting. These create some unsightly in mosaic could corrected using local adaptive filter, also named Wallis filter. Yet this solution leads significant loss contrast at small scales. This current work introduces two elementary studies. In first time, order quantify use simple multi-scale score proposed based mathematical morphology operations. second an optimal window size for filter identified considering systematic behaviours forming through Principal Component Analysis (PCA). studies are preliminary steps leading method correction combining filtering and PCA.
